Misun is a 60s rock infused pop band that makes beautifully, magically exciting music. Their self proclaimed style "Aquawave" is what can only be described as breezy surf rock.

This latest project from Maryland based rapper Sir E.U showcases his unusual vocal pattern over bouncy electronic beats. The young rapper is tied to the District’s independent hip hop platform Bombay Knox and is a founding member of the Kool Klux Klan rap collective.

A year after their Send The Night EP, the dream-pop trio has done it again. The Walking Sticks brought the same soulful lyrics and dreamy synth to this five track EP that includes their sultry rendition of Justin Timberlake’s “Señorita”.

Fellow Creatures is the culmination of former Ugly Purple Sweater members Will McKindley-Ward and Sam McCormally, who created this self proclaimed “swampy indie rock” brain child. “Allies” is the first single from the newly formed group which centers around the overlapping vocals of McKindley and McCormally. Although they only just played their first show a few weeks ago at DC9, the duo is picking up momentum and will surely be bringing the heat in 2015.

This twinkly, ambient remix of the White Stripes cover takes the repetitive track and reforms it to make it bouncy and upbeat, so much so that you can’t help but smile while listening. This is just the latest remix from young DC DJ Manila Killa who, like Hunt For The Breeze, also released a track, “2h Du Matin”, on Moving Castle’s third installation.

Baby Bry Bry shows off his lounge rock side in this slowed down track. A mere month after I Learned To Drown Myself Out, Part I, this single reveals the soulful sultriness that is Baby Bry Bry.

Not only is this a Will Eastman remix, it’s a Young Summer original, making this one of the most D.C. things to happen. Blisspop reps Caleb L’Etoile and Will Eastman took on the District’s up and coming pop singer’s new hit, “Classless Kids”. Her sultry Lana-like vocals are laid over a poppy bassline and synthed out track that uplifts the song in a completely different way than the original.

This track has everything: a 50 Cent throwback, flute solo, and those bouncy beats we’re oh so in love with right now. The 21 year old producer takes his jazz background and puts a spin on this deep house remix of the hip hop classic. Even better, Cautious Clay has a HOLYCHILD remix due out soon.

Hunt for the Breeze is a 23 year old producer from Virginia. His latest track “Sky Cathedral” is part of a side project with Portland based Flirtini. The instrumental track features a grungy analog beat that progresses into a synth masterpiece. And if that weren’t enough, he’s been keeping busy dropping a second track, “Louis XIV” through electronic artist collaborative Moving Castle.

Young Rapids is a dream-pop meets psychedelic rock quartet signed to Chimes Records, an independent record label started by local musicians Jon Weiss of The Sea Life and Homero of Go Cozy. “Melt” is the first single off their sophomore album, Pretty Ugly, due out in early 2015.

This funky track was produced in just two days by 20 year old future groove DJ Lean Quatifah. Featuring the sexy whispers of Khia, this track focuses on mixing jazz samples with deliberately offbeat claps. This is only the first track to come from this fresh producer, with a remix and another original track to come in the upcoming months.
