I got to "know" Adriano when I was very young. In my eyes back then he was a very eccentric avant-garde poet and father of Riccardo, one of my best friends in the classroom at school. I had no idea of what this incredible man was about but he was the very first who showed me how you could use a simple tape recorder to overdub voice and sounds until they morph in something else. The son gave me many of his father tapes (I wish I kept them with me)... Baobab was the name of the audio zine ... low fi recordings overdubbed so many times that made you really struggle to understand ... the words of the poets .. discerned from the background noise.
" A sound which corresponds to the weft of distance
to the remote request of accomplice machination
to the algebraic canon to the clash of new fragments
an accomplishment of substance in the order of contrivance
and again:
The position in which the mind has been caught
becomes fantasy, the projection of a world."

of the disinfected cavity introduced into your body
what can a poet do but cultivate warts on his face
you will see the air taste the fire touch the light
mother earth created from our ambiguous love"
it took me a few years .. and then I began to cultivate some warts myself.
