This is about Mirdek's childhood in high society, and her now disillusion with it. They’re autistic and was never good at social events, however the fact she was a highly praised magic scholar made them the pride of her father. Then they were cast out for her ‘unethical science’, any sort of decency previous given to them was retracted, left completely high and dry by all of high society.

This is about her hubris, the pride before the fall. The fact that they never considered there could be consequences for her illegal magic.
